This Valley of Tears
I’ve asked myself over and over again: “What would compel me to support going back to the Middle East and Iraq with our Military Forces? It wouldn’t be because of oil or to keep oil at a reasonable price. It wouldn’t be because I want to stop the Islamists from taking over and installing a caliphate to try to subjugate the entire world for Islam. There is only one reason we should go back there and that is to stop the slaughter of the innocent Christians in the Middle East.
It’s good to hear that the Pope is concerned about what is happening over there. I’ve heeded the call to give additional funds to the Catholic Church to help protect these Christians over the past few years. But the killing of innocents continues. Actually, the demonic practice of true human sacriface continues.

The Assyrian Church of the East, the Coptic Church, as well as several Catholic Eastern-rite Churches are being serverely persecuted by these theo-fascist Islamists. These Churches have been a fixture in the landscape from the time of the Apostles and Disciples of Christ. Persecution of Christians in the Middle East is part of the history of Christianity and contributed to it’s spread throughout the Roman Empire and beyond, no doubt.
It’s an ugly thing to see the forces of Satan at work within a Religion that professes to believe in the God of Abraham, the God of Issac, the God of Jacob and the God of Jesus.
The Voice of the Martyrs
When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.
In a sermon by John Piper, Baptist Minister, he told his congregation that in America we live in “Christian Disneyland.” When he said that, I realized I personally didn’t know any martyrs or persecuted Christians. Since then, I have now met 3 Coptic Christians who personally have experienced persecution and know marytrs from their churches back in Egypt. As I listened to their testimony, I could see the sorrow and apprehension on their faces as they looked over their shoulders and told me the stories of atrocities they have witnessed in their churches.
What can we do to stop this slaughter?
When O’ Lord will you come to Judge and Avenge these Holy Innocents.
